European Development Days ( EDDs) are Europe’s leading forum on development since 2006.
Organised by the European Commission, every year the Forum bring together the development community ( Heads of State and Government, representatives of the private sector, civil society and academia.

The 2017 Edition or the EDDs took place in Brussels from the 7th -8th June 2017.

During  MACH Consulting  hosted a high level debate on the theme of “Decent Jobs“. Indeed economic growth is lasting and more beneficial to the poorest when it is inclusive and creates decent jobs, particularly for women and youth, that respect the fundamental human rights as well as the rights of workers in terms of conditions of work safety, remuneration, physical and mental integrity. 

The high level session entitled “Making it happen through jobs and entrepreneurship: Strengthening private-public partnership for job creation, inclusive and sustainable development” discussed how to enhance decent work and employment opportunities for all, by harnessing the synergies from partnerships involving Governments and the private sector.

The session hosted by MACH Consulting was only session hosted  by Private sector.

The 2017 Edition of the EDDs was exceptional in many ways; entitled ” Investing in Development”, this year edition hosted the official signature of the New European Consensus on Development, the EU-Africa Business Forum and the Lorenzo Natali Media Prize.

At the center of EDD 2017 Debates was a reflection on a new global strategy to address the most pressing current global development challenges with a particular emphasis on the role of the private sector as a partner in economic development. The private sector’s role in international development policies was spotlighted throughout the forum mainly with regard to the promotion of inclusive growth and the creation of decent jobs in particular for women and youth, which leads to improved living conditions.
