Youth Connekt Africa under the theme « From Potential to Success« , took place on 19-21 July 2017 in Kigali,Rwanda.
Hosted by H.E president Paul Kagame and organized by the Ministry of Youth and ICT in collaboration with UNDP and UNCTAD, the Summit brought together thousands of delegates including government leaders, successful young entrepreneurs from Africa and the Diaspora, representatives of multinational companies that operate in Africa, representatives of civil society organizations, Africa development partners, members of the academia, artists and youth opinion leaders from across the continent.
Among the speakers were President Paul Kagame, Jack Ma, CEO of Alibaba Group, Mukhisa Kituyi, UNCTAD special Adviser on youth Entrepreneurship, Tony Elumelu, Vera Songwe, Akinwumi Adesina, Francine Muyumbu, Donald Kaberuka etc.
The CEO of MACH Consulting spoke on the plenary session entitled “Youth Converse: Diaspora, the 6th region” alongside the super star Alioune Badara Thiam popularly known as Akon, a Senegalese-American singer, songwriter, actor who is now impact investor with his Akon Lighting Africa initiative.
This Panel featured other successful Diaspora Entrepreneurs from Africa and from different backgrounds.
Our Panel highlighted the role of the Diaspora in building the future of Africa and how Africa can leverage the Diaspora potential to harness sustainable development.
The Summit provided for a platform for inspiration and the share of experience to encourage African youth entrepreneurship and leverage the youth’s decisive role in the development of Africa. The summit also mobilized Funds to support a Youth Connekt Africa Hub aimed at supporting Youth Enterpreneurship.
